Roger is Chairman of Marstons (FTSE250 pubs and brewery group), Gamesys, Satellite Information Services (sports media) and Porthaven Nursing Homes. In 2012 he was appointed the first Independent NED by the Football Association. Previous appointments have included National Express and various private equity chairmanships - Venere (Advent, sold to Expedia), Traveljigsaw (Isis, sold to Priceline) and Principal Hotels (Permira, sold to Starwood).

Roger chairs the Business Committee of the R&A Golf and is a member of the Racehorse Owners Association.

Accidental film-maker may have the last laugh

When Roger Devlin, chairman of Marston’s and erstwhile head of mergers and acquisitions at Hill Samuel in New York, wrote a film script about a rogue trader its chances of making it on to the big screen appeared remote. Not to be put off, Mr Devlin turned co-producer to make Breaking the Bank, and last year it went on general release after being picked up by Universal.
