Alex Dibelius’ Biography

Dr Alexander (Alex) Dibelius PhD, MD is a leading figure in the financial world and a Managing Partner at CVC, overseeing the private equity giant’s operations in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). Since joining CVC in 2015 he has successfully orchestrated several high-profie acquisitions for the firm, including Tipico Group; perfumery chain Douglas; and Breitling, the Swiss luxury watchmaker.

A prominent global private equity and investment advisory firm, CVC is led by its Managing Partners and is majority-owned by its employees. Expert teams with an in-depth knowledge of the sectors in which they specialise drive the company's success. Major CVC investments have included Formula 1, Sunrise Communications and RAC.

Before joining CVC, Alex Dibelius had a long and distinguished career as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. Before joining CVC, Alex Dibelius had a long and distinguished career as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. While at Goldman Sachs he advised on over 500 transactions including Kabel Deutschland; KION Group; Messer; and Vodafone’s $180bn takeover of Mannesmann.

Outside of his role at CVC, Alex’s interests lie within the digital economy. He is a Supervisory Board Member of Diebold Nixdorf AG, a software, hardware, security and service provider for the linked commerce economy.

Alex is a qualified surgeon, and holds an MD and PhD in Medicine from the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich. He practised as a doctor at Universitätsklinikum Freiburg in Germany, and Chris Hani Baragwanath and Groote Schuur Hospitals in South Africa. After completing his military service, Alex moved into consulting, becoming a Partner at McKinsey before switching to financial services.
