Liran’s Biography

Liran Assness is an inspirational South African entrepreneur in the mining and industrial sectors. He is the co-founder of Tabono and CEO of The Sekta Group. Through these interests, Liran focuses his efforts on the energy, petro-chemical, oil and gas, marine, resources, infrastructure, logistics, and services sectors.

Liran began his career as a commodities trader, and although his day-to-day focus has shifted to business development and leadership through Sekta, he has remained involved in resources throughout his career.

In 2013, Liran bought Redec Services, which he strategically scaled from a small business with 10 employees to a thriving company employing a workforce of 500 people. This represented the first of many acquisitions in the industrial sector which, in a deal Liran structured together with other partners in 2019, collectively would form The Sekta Group.

Utilising his experience in building and scaling specialised businesses, Liran also co-founded Tabono, through which he focuses on growing and supporting already-profitable businesses.

As a driven businessman and natural leader, Liran believes in “high performance as a life effort” – to lead from the front and to always give his utmost so that he motivates and inspires those around him to do the same.

He received the Kirsh Family entrepreneur Award in 2020 in recognition of his incredible business success, demonstrated through the development of The Sekta Group. He was chosen out of a select group of finalists.
