Tonio Burgos is Founder & CEO of Tonio Burgos and Associates, a leading strategic planning firm. For over 30 years, the firm has successfully worked on a wide range of projects for clients in the public and private sector.

Tonio’s expertise is built upon five decades of experience in business, government, civic involvement, and legislative affairs. His background gives him a clear understanding and in-depth knowledge in how to get results on behalf of clients. Under his leadership, Tonio Burgos and Associates has become a leader in the consulting and lobbying industries, serving the tristate region, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico.

Prior to founding his firm, Tonio worked for NY Governor Mario Cuomo for 15 years, as Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and as Director of the Trans-Hudson Corporation (PATH). He also served as Vice Chairman of the NJ Economic Development Authority and Treasurer of the Camden NJ Recovery Board. For over three decades he has been a member of the Democratic National Committee and was elected to its Executive Committee in 2018.... Tonio has served on numerous boards and received many honors from charitable and philanthropic organizations and educational institutions. He is on the Board of Trustees of the nonprofit NYC Police Foundation and RFK Human Rights, a nonprofit human rights advocacy organization. He also serves on the Boards of the Regional Plan Association, where he was awarded their Lifetime Leadership Award, and the NY School Construction Authority. In 2019, the National Parks of New York Harbor Conservancy elected Tonio as its Chair.

In 2015, Lehman College awarded Tonio an honorary Doctor of Laws Degree. He also received the NJ Alliance for Action’s President’s Award and the Citizens Union Gotham Greats Award. more less

The five incumbent Democratic National Committee members from New Jersey are expected to be re-elected to new four-year terms this evening when the Democratic State Committee holds a virtual meeting to formally choose At-Large and Party Leader and Elected Official (PLEO) delegates to the Democratic National Convention. The incumbents – George E. Norcross III, Marcia Marley, Tonio Burgos, John F.X. Graham and Bernadette McPherson – have no apparent opposition to their re-election bids.
