Jon’s Biography

Jon Garcia is a Senior Partner at 26North Partners, a fully integrated, next-generation alternatives platform with more than $5B AUM. He also serves as the Head of the firm's Alpha Creation Team.

Jon previously served as a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company, and was the President & Founder of McKinsey’s RTS unit. RTS (“Reset – Transform – Sustain”) is a specialized group within McKinsey, dedicated to delivering large-scale, rapid, sustainable performance improvement, using a proven approach. Under Jon’s leadership, RTS partnered with organizations across industries and markets to execute more than a hundred highly complex, successful transformations and turnarounds over the last decade.

With more than 25 years at McKinsey, Jon’s personal experience included a wide variety of organizational settings, from market leaders facing disruption, to companies seeking a “good to great” performance lift, to fast-growing organizations building for scale. With more than 25 years at McKinsey, Jon’s personal experience included a wide variety of organizational settings, from market leaders facing disruption, to companies seeking a “good to great” performance lift, to fast-growing organizations building for scale. His clients represented a range of sectors, including industrials, financial institutions, consumer goods, business services, and healthcare, among others.

Before founding RTS, Jon led McKinsey’s principal investor practice and advised a set of leading alternative asset managers active in hedge funds, distressed investing, and private equity. From 1996 to 1998, Jon was a senior official in the Clinton Administration, where he led the reorganization of a $6bn portfolio of government loans made to bidders on mobile communications licenses. He started his career as an attorney at the law firm Paul | Weiss where he worked on a range of corporate and bankruptcy matters.

Jon serves as Chairman of McKinsey.org, the firm’s corporate foundation. He holds a JD from Harvard Law School, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and a BA from Georgetown.
