David Naylor-Leyland’s Biography

David Naylor-Leyland is a British entrepreneur, property developer and business executive with experience across technology, hospitality, real estate and wealth management. He was Chairman of Telent from 2010 to 2022 and subsequently Non Executive Director until the sale of the company in 2025. Telent is a technology services company that designs, builds and maintains critical digital infrastructure across the transport, telecommunications, defence and emergency services sectors.

David began his business career in residential property with Aylesford & Company, becoming a Director in 1980. The following year, he founded Flaxman Properties, which specialised in high-quality residential development in central London. Under his leadership, the company converted approximately 40 buildings in and around South Kensington into more than 200 apartments, later expanding into commercial and industrial property.

In 1990, David founded Townhouse Hotel Investments, acquiring, and developing central London properties to create The Egerton House Hotel and The Franklin Hotel. The company subsequently... In 1990, David founded Townhouse Hotel Investments, acquiring, and developing central London properties to create The Egerton House Hotel and The Franklin Hotel. The company subsequently secured private equity backing to acquire Dukes Hotel in 1994. The portfolio was sold between 2005 and 2006, delivering significant returns to its investors.

Following the sale, David concentrated on non-executive and chairmanship roles. He served as Chairman of Fleming Family & Partners Wealth Planning and as Non-Executive Chairman of Interactive Hotel Services Limited, a provider of entertainment and internet services to the international hotel sector.

David began his career as an officer in The Life Guards, where he commanded a reconnaissance troop and later served as an Aide-de-Camp to US General Robert E Gard. He attended Eton College and completed a Short Service Commission at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. READ MORE VIEW LESS
