Benson Li’s Biography

Benson Li serves as Head of Investments at Sackville Capital, where he leads the firm’s private equity investment strategy.

With more than two decades of global private equity experience and expertise in building investment platforms across North America, Europe and Asia, Benson brings a proven track record of investing in and driving value creation across the technology, healthcare, services, and industrial sectors.

With Benson at the helm, the Sackville Capital private equity investment philosophy is centred on partnerships with fund managers in the lower and mid-market space that invest in market-leading, recession-resilient businesses that demonstrate a strong growth trajectory.

Sackville Capital values partners that demonstrate consistent performance, strong operational capabilities and deep sector expertise. The firm has recently launched its direct investments strategy, which includes co-investments, complementing its funds programme.

Earlier in his career, Benson relocated from Toronto to London to lead and build the European private equity platform at AIMCo where the programme had a global mandate and a targeted investment size ranging from US$50 million to US$200 million. He was a Partner, Private Equity, at Clifford Street Advisors before joining Sackville. Benson played a key role in the evolution of OMERS Private Markets - from a funds investor, to co-investment, to ultimately a direct investor holding control positions.

Benson is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Professional Accountant. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Master’s degree in Accounting and previously achieved a Bachelor of Mathematics and Chartered Accounting Studies (Honours) at the same University. more less
