Steve Hewitt is CEO of one of the most exciting and recognised direct-to-consumer fitness wear brands in the world, Gymshark.
In August 2020 Gymshark was valued at more than £1bn ($1.3bn). The valuation means that Gymshark joins the list of less than 25 British companies to have secured 'unicorn' status.
Steve joined Gymshark in June 2014 as an external advisor, and went on to become Managing Director the following year when he began the process of professionalising the business and building the foundations to prepare Gymshark for its next stage of growth.
In 2017 Steve became CEO and spearheaded the building up of the senior leadership team that has been responsible for the exponential growth of the brand on a global scale, winning many international awards along the way, most notably topping The Sunday Times’ Fast Track (2016), International Track (2019) and Profit Track (2020) league tables. With Steve at the helm, Gymshark has gone from being a leading entrepreneurial start-up to becoming a global brand with millions of customers in 170+ countries.
Throughout his career Steve has held many senior executive roles, serving as CEO of Sport Brands Group, a specialist in establishing licensing and distribution partnerships with international brands, and Commercial Director for Reebok, responsible for the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions where he spent six years with the brand, overseeing year on year double digit growth in key markets within the region.
Steve is a natural leader with a competitive spirit and a talent for building purpose and people-driven cultures. In addition, he has extensive financial modelling expertise to drive organisational scalability on an international level, and these talents and attributes have been key to his success over a 20+ year long career.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business & Sports Management from The Manchester Metropolitan University and is married with 2 children.
