Sameer Gehlaut is a first-generation entrepreneur and founder of the Indiabulls Group.
In 1999, Sameer founded Indiabulls and has grown the company into one of India's most profitable conglomerates, operating across housing finance, consumer lending, real estate, and digital services. It now employs over 19,000 people and has a market cap of $5 billion.
In 2004, Sameer led the business through its successful IPO while expanding the business into the consumer lending sector. Since then, Indiabulls Group has paid over $1.8 billion in dividends to investors and delivered returns at a CAGR of 35% to shareholders.
Sameer is also Non-Executive Director of Indiabulls Housing – the third-largest mortgage provider in India with over 500,000 customers. The business is AA rated from S&P company CRISIL and is chaired by the former Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Mr SS Mundra.
He is Chairman at Indiabulls Real Estate, a development company focused on residential and commercial property, which has sold multiple developments to Blackstone for over $1.8 billion.
In 2017, Sameer launched Dhani. Now used by upwards of 26 million people, the mobile app provides users with virtual doctor appointments, discounts on medicine, delivery on pharmacy products, as well as convenient access to financial services.
Sameer is founder of Clivedale Group, which operates as his private family office. The company is principally engaged in the luxury real estate sector in central London.
He led Indiabulls’ $100m investment into UK business lender OakNorth Bank, which has now lent more than £5 billion to British businesses and was named Europe’s fastest-growing company by The Financial Times in 2020.
He also helped establish the Indiabulls Foundation, the charitable arm of the Indiabulls Group, which has supported over 7.5 million people.
