Robbye Poole is a highly reputed professional tennis coach and former playing partner of Serena Williams. He most recently served as Director of Junior Player Development at Edge International Sports Agency.
Edge is primarily a tennis agency offering a variety of services to developing players through a group of consultants, lawyers, agents, coaches, and managers covering all the requirements of the athletes. Robbye is a highly experienced coach, having worked with high-profile professional tennis players Serena Williams, Genie Bouchard, John Isner, and Coco Gauff, amongst others. Focusing on Gauff in particular, Robbye played a major role in her development between the ages of 13-16. This spell of substantial success led to her claiming the top spot at the 2018 World Junior Rankings, along with junior level victories at The French Open and The Orange Bowl. His role at Edge encompassed recruitment of new athletes, strategic planning of training and development programs for athletes at all levels, alongside coaching and mentoring.
Working with Canadian professional tennis player, Genie Bouchard, Robbye was her playing partner and coach, guiding her to a first grand slam appearance at The Australian Open. Prior to this, he worked a season as Assistant Women’s tennis coach at his alma mater, the University of Mississippi. His long-standing role as playing partner to Serena Williams coincided with a very successful stint for the tennis icon: she won 6 grand slam titles during this time.
At Score Tennis & Fitness, Robbye had been Elite Junior Director and was given very positive feedback from parents and athletes who had benefitted from his input. In his first private coaching role, he worked with ATP tour player, Harrison Richmond.
Following his graduation from the University of Mississippi, Robbye played professional tennis for a few months before focusing on coaching. In ATP Singles he reached a career-high ranking of 414.
