Patrick Cox has mastered various roles throughout his career as an economist, reporter, leading politician, advisor and thought leader on sustainability and the green economy. Pat serves as a Director on numerous boards, focusing on sustainability and clean energy.
He is Non-Executive Chairman of the UK’s first pure-play energy storage fund, Gore Street Energy Storage Fund. The fund is committed to providing investors with a sustainable and attractive dividend yield over the long term, by focusing on a diversified investment portfolio of large scale energy storage projects.
Pat serves as Chairman of the Public Interest Committee for KPMG Ireland and Chairman of SuperNode Ltd. He was a Member of Michelin’s Supervisory Board and the nominated Director to deal with sustainability issues. Pat is an Ambassador for Sustainable Nation Ireland and chairs the Impact Investment Advisory Board of Appian Investment Management. Pat was a politician, serving as a Member, then President of the European Parliament and as a Member of the Dáil Éireann. He began his career as an economics lecturer at the Institute of Public Administration before becoming a journalist and presenter for RTÉ's Today Tonight programme. Pat is President of the Jean Monnet Foundation for Europe, the Alliance Francaise Dublin and former President of the European Movement International. He sits on the Board of several other non-profit organisations including the Institute of International and European Affairs.
He coordinates the EU’s Scandinavian Mediterranean Trans European Transport corridor for the European Commission and is active in democracy support activities of the European Parliament in Ukraine, also serving as a member of the EIB’s Appointments Advisory Committee.
Pat’s achievements have been recognised through numerous awards including Commandeur de la Légion d’honneur and the prestigious Charlemagne Prize for his major contribution to European unification.
