Nick Matulovich is an experienced finance and M&A professional with a particular focus in the commercial real estate sector.
As Chief Financial Officer of Rockcastle Global Real Estate Company Ltd (Rockcastle), Nick executed the merger with New Europe Property Investments PLC (NEPI) in July 2017 and the new company, renamed NEPI Rockcastle PLC, is now the largest retail landlord in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) with a portfolio of dominant retail centres exceeding €5bn in value.
Nick Matulovich was a member of the team that founded Rockcastle in 2012, he was also directly responsible for the finance function and together with the company’s CEO, led all M&A functions of the business. In addition, he was responsible for the operations of the company’s listed security portfolio (an exposure which exceeded €2bn). Following the merger, Nick became an Executive Director and focuses on the company’s funding profile (leading secured debt and capital markets transactions) as well as continued oversight over the acquisitions and tax functions.
At the time when Rockcastle was conceptualised and founded, Nick worked for a leading South African property company where he was involved in new property initiatives across Africa and Europe, as well as overseeing the company’s structuring matters.
During his years at Ernst & Young, Nick spent time in both the Transaction Tax division, a division that was one of the most successful and active M&A advisory businesses in Africa, and the Assurance division.
A graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand, Nick has lectured undergraduate and postgraduate students in Taxation and Auditing at the same university. Nick has an MCom (Taxation) and is a CA(SA) and is now based in London.
