Biography

Jeremy Isaacs CBE is a Founding Partner of JRJ Group, a private equity firm with a focus on financial services, established in 2009.

The company is a growth-oriented investor and provides capital, deep operational expertise and expert strategic guidance to its portfolio companies.

Jeremy drives the company strategy in relation to the fund and portfolio and plays a central role in developing the firm’s external collaborative relationships.

Previously, Jeremy was the Chief Executive Officer of Lehman Brothers in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He had started his career with Goldman Sachs and was Head of European Equity Derivative Trading before moving to Lehman Brothers.

A former stock market trader and senior investment banker, Jeremy also runs his own charitable trust The J Isaacs Charitable Trust.

Through various not-for-profit enterprises Jeremy puts his economic and capitalist skills to work via responsible and sustainable philanthropy.

In May 2019, Jeremy received a Doctor of Philosophy Honoris Causa from the Haifa University, Israel. Additionally, he is an Honorary Fellow of London Business School.He was also appointed CBE in the 2015 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his services to the NHS.

Marex Spectron Buys Marquee Oil as Consolidation Heats up

Marex has expanded aggressively since being taken private in 2010 by JRJ Ventures, the private equity group founded by former Lehman executives Roger Nagioff and Jeremy Isaacs. The past year saw Marex Spectron also solidify its ‎position across global commodities markets, including ‎seeing its volumes maintain the top spot on the London ‎Metal Exchange (LME), as well as on the LME Select ‎electronic platform.

Jeremy Isaacs: Lehman was the wrong option

Jeremy Isaacs started as a blue-button at Smith New Court (later acquired by Merrill Lynch in 1995), working on the London Stock Exchange as a trainee trader at one of the biggest stock jobbers. He was in at the start of equity options in the early 1980s. “No one had very detailed experience in trading options, and at a very young age I was better at it than most people, simply, I think, because I was quite numerate.”
