Harry Herbert’s Biography

Harry Herbert is the Chairman, Managing Director and Founder of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Ltd, and a highly regarded figure in the racing world.

Harry established Highclere Thoroughbred Racing in 1992. The company was very soon a leader in the field of racehorse syndication and has been providing members with an economical way to enjoy racing at the highest level for over three decades. When purchasing yearlings for the syndicate Harry works closely with his brother-in-law, John Warren, who is based at Highclere Stud and is HM The Queen’s Bloodstock and Racing Advisor.

As managers of The Royal Ascot Racing Club, Highclere Thoroughbred Racing was responsible for Motivator, the winner of the Derby in 2005.

Harry’s career in the bloodstock industry began in the US in the early 1980s when he researched pedigrees for Bloodstock Research Information Systems, a company that revolutionised data in horse racing and breeding. He went on to work for The Matchmaker Group, a company that specialised in bloodstock sales, promotion and finance.

In 1984 Harry returned to the UK to represent Matchmaker in Europe. He went on to set up HMH Management Ltd, his own thoroughbred management company, providing advisory and promotional services to the bloodstock industry.

In addition to his role at Highclere Racing, Harry is also a Racing Consultant for Cartier, a Global Ambassador for the Saudi Cup and a Director of Newbury Racecourse. Harry is a member of The Jockey Club.
