Biography

Geoffrey Coley serves on the Board of Trustees and as Treasurer for the Cancer Research Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of and providing funding for cancer immunotherapy research. Geoff is a Senior executive with over 30 years’ experience in financial services, most recently as International Business Head at Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Holdings Co., Ltd.

The mission of the Cancer Research Institute is to harness control and potentially cure all types of cancer. They work towards this goal by funding the most innovative clinical and laboratory research around the world, supporting leading scientists in the field, and serving as a trusted source of information on immunotherapy for cancer patients and their caregivers. Geoff's great-aunt Helen Coley Nauts is the founder of the Cancer Research Institute and daughter of Dr. William B. Coley, Geoff's great-grandfather, who was the first doctor to use immunotherapy to save a patient with inoperable cancer.

As International Business Head at Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Holdings, Geoff was responsible for the oversight of the development, implementation, and operation of front office functions of MUFG’s international securities business. Prior to his tenure at MUFG, Geoff spent over 20 years at Citigroup, where he held a range of senior leadership roles, notably Managing Director roles for the Global Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities and Global Fixed Income, Credit Markets divisions.

Geoff earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire.

Honoring a Legacy of Hope to Create a Future Immune to Cancer

The Cancer Research Institute presented the 2019 Coley Award to Geoffrey O. Coley. He received the award for his impeccable service and commitment to CRI since joining the board in 1998. The great-grandson of Dr. William B. Coley, Mr. Coley recounted in his acceptance remarks how his formative years were spent with his great-aunt, Helen Coley Nauts, CRI’s founder and daughter of William Coley, and his father, Pete Coley, a staunch devotee to Ms. Nauts’ cause.

Team Blue was led by Geoffrey Coley, CRI board member and international business head of MUFG Securities Holdings Co., Ltd. Geoffrey is the great-nephew of CRI’s founder, Helen Coley Nauts, and the great-grandson of Dr. William B. Coley, now recognized as the “Father of Cancer Immunotherapy.”
