Simon Dingemans’ Biography

Simon is a Senior Advisor at Carlyle, focusing on the Healthcare Sector as well as UK investment opportunities. He continues to cover and assist the teams he was responsible for in his prior position as Managing Director. Simon brings operational and financial expertise from over eight years’ experience at GlaxoSmithKline plc, both as CFO and as a Member of the main Board, as well as his 25 years in investment banking, first for 10 years with S.G. Warburg and then 15 years with Goldman Sachs.

As Group Chief Financial Officer of GlaxoSmithKline, Simon was responsible for Global Finance as well as numerous other significant support functions, including Technology, Data and Analytics, Procurement, and Real Estate. He led and sponsored various key change programmes for the company, including the replacement of the Group's ERP systems, substantial restructuring to improve operational flexibility and reduce costs, and several significant strategic transactions across the three main businesses of the group: pharmaceuticals, consumer health and vaccines.

At Goldman Sachs, he was Managing Director and then partner for 10 years, where he was a senior member of the European M&A business and head of UK Investment Banking. He led several of Goldman Sachs' most important business relationships in the UK and advised on a wide range of transactions in a variety of industries, including healthcare, telecommunications, consumer, retail, and defence.

In 2019/20, Simon served as Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council, the UK’s accounting regulator. He has also served as Chairman of the 100 Group, which represents the opinions of the Finance Directors of FTSE 100 and other large private UK companies.

Simon sits on the main Board of creative transformation company WPP PLC and is a Member of its Audit Committee.
