Simon Dingemans is Managing Director and a Senior Member of the Carlyle Advisory Team at The Carlyle Group. He is responsible for UK buyouts and healthcare deals across Europe.
Previously, Simon was Chief Financial Officer of GlaxoSmithKline for over eight years. At GSK he was a member of the Board and Corporate Executive Team (CET), and was directly involved in developing and delivering the strategy of the Company and driving its operational performance. As CFO he was responsible for leading Finance and a variety of other group functions, including Real Estate and Procurement, Technology and IT.
Before joining GSK, Mr. Dingemans was an investment banker for 25 years. He spent the first ten years of his career at S.G. Warburg, starting as a graduate trainee, before moving to Goldman Sachs in 1995. Over 15 years with Goldman Sachs, Including 10 years as a Partner of the Firm, he ran UK investment banking and was a leader of its European Mergers and Acquisitions business. During his time at Goldman Sachs, he came to be one of the most prolific and respected Mergers and Acquisitions bankers in Europe advising on some of the largest and most complex transactions valued at over $500 billion in aggregate.
Simon served as Non-Executive Chair of the Financial Reporting Council, the audit regulator, from October 2019 until May 2020. He also previously served as Chairman of the 100 Group which represents the views of the Finance Directors of FTSE 100 and a number of large UK private companies. Simon is currently a trustee of the Donmar Warehouse Theatre. He holds a Master's degree in Geography from Oxford University.
