Selina Elwell is Director of Investment Counselling and Chief Executive Officer of MIO Partners (EU) Ltd, McKinsey & Company’s investment management arm. She brings over three decades of experience in the financial sector to this prominent role.
MIO Partners oversees retirement and after-tax investments of the leading consultancy’s current and former partners. Selina serves in this leadership role in a global investment advisory team after a long tenure at the firm.
Selina's City life began in 1982 when she was recruited to the Capital Markets Division of SG Warburg, quite an accolade for a woman at a time of a predominantly male workforce.
Moving to New York, Selina became Global Head of Product Development & Distribution at Chemical Bank, which subsequently merged with Chase Manhattan. Returning to London, she continued to work for Chase as Vice President Marketing, Product Development & Distribution (Europe) before moving to the Private Bank and Trust Company as an Associate Director of their private banking division.
Then came a move to work as a Senior Financial Advisor with Rupert Loewenstein who famously looked after finances for the Rolling Stones. A role as Vice President and Senior Financial Consultant in the private banking department at Merrill Lynch followed before Selina took up the post of Director, Private Client Services at Donaldson Lufkin Jenrette. In 2005 Selina moved to her current role as CEO of McKinsey Investment Office (MIO) Partners Ltd.
A passionate philanthropist, Selina is a keen supporter of education for women in the developing world. Selina is bi-lingual in French and fluent in Spanish and Italian. She enjoys gardening, music and writing.
