Nigel Spray is Partner and Head of the Merchant Banking team at the global investment firm, Stanhope Capital and serves on the Executive Committee. His career spans over three decades in corporate finance.
Before joining Stanhope, Nigel led the Private Merchant Banking at Kleinwort Hambros, previously Kleinwort Benson. Prior to that, Nigel founded and served as Managing Partner at Frontiers Capital, a firm that invested in and advised high-growth companies in the telecommunications and consumer sectors. Prior to founding Frontiers Capital Nigel was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse in the Investment Banking Department co-leading the European Consumer Retail M&A team. Nigel was formerly a Director in the Corporate Finance Department at Kleinwort Benson and spent 5 years heading Kleinwort Benson’s Corporate Finance Department in Paris.
At the beginning of his career, Nigel worked as a corporate lawyer at CMS Cameron Mckenna where he focused on mergers and acquisitions between the US and the UK. Nigel previously served as a Non-Executive on a number of Boards. He also acted for numerous organisations, including Tesco and Carrefour and acted for the UK Government on the privatisation of the electricity industry in the UK.
Nigel attended Bristol University, where he graduated in Law.
