Luke Donald’s Biography

Luke Donald MBE is an English golfer, who won his first championship at 15 and turned professional in 2001. Although half Scottish, he represents England in his tours and mainly plays the PGA and European Tour.

Donald reached a career high in 2011 which saw him rank as World Number One after winning the BMW PGA Championship, where he beat Lee Westwood. In addition, he won several other tournaments and awards throughout that year including being titled PGA Player of the Year and European Golfer of the Year.

The year after, Donald was up against Rory McIlroy to defend his title and World Number One. After deciding not to participate in The Honda Classic tournament, he lost his title as number one to McIlroy. In 2013 and 2014 Donald competed in the BMW PGA Championship, where he tied third in 2014. In 2017 Donald finished one stroke behind Wesley Bryan which led him to finish as the runner-up of the PGA Tour event, RBC Heritage.

Donald is sponsored by Greyson Clothiers following his previous sponsorship by Ralph Lauren that he collaborated with for more than ten years. He was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s 2012 Birthday Honours for his contribution to golf.
