Jonathan Buxton is Head of the Consumer Group and Head of M&A International’s Global Consumer and Retail Group at Cavendish Corporate Finance. He is a specialist advisor to branded businesses in the Retail, FMCG and Luxury sectors and during his career has advised on transactions ranging from multi-billion pound government projects to the sale of family businesses. Co-operative makes formal takeover offer for Nisa of £143mln

Cavendish Corporate Finance's Jonathan Buxton believes the offer will allow Co-op to increase its market share and push back against the discounters, such as Aldi and Lidl, which are gaining ground in the grocery sector.  "Through this offer, Co-op is likely seeking to increase efficiencies within their operations and adapt to changing consumer demands," he said.  "Consolidation of this kind allows grocers to invest in companies which will dispel inefficiencies in the supply chain and enable them to absorb more price hikes, preventing a further loss of market share to discounters, such as Aldi and Lidl.

US handbag maker Michael Kors buys UK shoemaker Jimmy Choo for US$1.2bn

Jonathan Buxton, partner and head of consumer and retail at Cavendish Corporate Finance, said: “This is a significant transaction for Michael Kors as it seeks to boost its customer base within the luxury market.
