H.E. Sheikh Yousef Abdullah Al-Sabah is the Director General of the Kuwait Ports Authority, KPA. Additionally, Sheikh Yousef is the Chairman of both the Federation of Arab Ports & The Arab Transport Sector and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Studies.
Sheikh Yousef served as as an Officer of the Kuwait National Guard for 12 years and was promoted several times, becoming Lt Colonel and Director of Foreign Procurement. He attended Infantry & Advanced Intelligence courses at Ft Benning & Ft Huatchuka and was the first International officer to be on Ft Bennings Commandant's List of Honor. He has been decorated with 3 service medals and several letters of appreciation from His Highness Emir of Kuwait & His Highness The Crown Prince and, at aged 33, was the youngest officer to be promoted to Lt Colonel.
In 2007, Sheikh Yousef resigned from the Kuwait National Guard to pursue his own endeavors in business, banking & investments. He became part of a team that re-structured a large investment group, IIG, International Investment Group, turning it from a quarter of a billion dollars in debt to profitability in 5 years. With his re-structuring experience, Sheikh Yousef has tripled the year on year profits of Kuwait Ports Authority in the past 3 years, approved a 2035 New Kuwait Strategic Plan with many new projects, employed hundreds of talented Kuwaiti graduates and has empowered women at the KPA. He believes that the New Kuwait Strategic Plan should rely on proper training and work experience and thus has nominated over 300 employees to be trained at the ports of Hamburg, Antwerp & Singapore.
A graduate of Boston University, Sheikh Yousef gained a BA Degree (cum laude) in Economics and holds three Masters Degrees.
