David Sproul’s Biography

David Sproul is an experienced Advisor & Board Director. He is currently Chair of Starling Bank and a board member of London First.

For over 30 years David held key leadership roles at Deloitte and a predecessor firm, Andersen. Until May 2021 he was Deloitte’s Global Deputy Chief Executive where he headed up the Global Client & Business Executive which oversees and sets strategy, and serves as the decision-making body for all client and business matters.

As Chief Executive & Senior Partner of Deloitte UK and NW Europe, David was the driving force behind bringing together over 30,000 employees across nine countries to help respond to the changing needs of Deloitte’s clients. Since the beginning of his career at Deloitte, David has focused on ensuring that the vision of the company is defined by the impact it has on the success and reputation of their clients. He has also played a key role in the creation of Deloitte Digital and the expansion of the firm’s operations in Switzerland.

During his tenure at Deloitte, David led the One Deloitte campaign where he extended the company’s real estate services and explored growth opportunities. In addition, David was responsible for launching the UK Futures campaign, which provides a platform for debate on the challenges affecting the UK economy as well as the role of business in wealth creation.

Renowned for his ability to reshape business platforms, David was appointed Managing Partner for Talent UK, where he instituted the foundations of the company’s approach to talent today.

In recognition of his outstanding achievements, David was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters by the University of Hertfordshire.

David is a travel, cycling and motor racing enthusiast.
