Carlos Ortiz is a professional golfer hailing from Guadalajara, Mexico. Carlos attended the University of North Texas where he played college golf alongside fellow tour pro, Sebastián Munoz. His first PGA Tour victory came at the 2020 Houston Open, where he finished with an impressive score of 13-under par. Carlos is the third Mexican winner on the PGA Tour, following Victor Regalado and Cesar Sanudo.

Carlos finished the 2019-2020 season ranked 51st in the FedEx Cup standings, propelled by 3 Top-10 finishes: Mayakoba Golf Classic (T2), Sanderson Farms Championship (T4), and the Houston Open (T4).

After finishing T-15 at the Web.com Tour qualifying school in 2013, Carlos officially joined the tour the following year. That year, he won the Panama Claro Championship, followed three weeks later with a win at the El Bosque Mexico Championship. This quick and impressive start on the tour propelled him into the top 200 in the Official World Golf Ranking. This led to his PGA Tour debut at the 2014 Memorial Tournament. After winning his third Web.com event of the season at the Winco Foods Portland Open, Carlos earned fully exempt status on the PGA Tour as a three-time, single-season winner. He was also named Web.com Tour Player of the Year.

Carlos excelled early in his career, including his participation at the Summer Universiade in 2011, where he was a member of the team that finished third. He represented the Mexican team at the 2010 Eisenhower Trophy and again in 2012 when Mexico were runners-up. After graduating with an International Studies major, he turned professional in 2013.
