Carlos Ortiz’s Biography

Carlos Ortiz is a Mexican Professional Golfer hailing from Guadalajara, Mexico. Carlos attended the University of North Texas where he played college golf. At the Summer Universiade in 2011, Carlos was a member of the team that finished third. He represented the Mexican team at the 2010 Eisenhower Trophy and again in 2012 when Mexico were runners-up. After graduating with an International Studies major, he turned professional in 2013. Carlos Ortiz is a Mexican Professional Golfer hailing from Guadalajara, Mexico. After playing in the first and second as well as the final stages, Carlos finished T-15 at the Web.com Tour qualifying school. He joined the full Web.com tour the next year. He won the Panama Claro Championship, the fourth event of the year, and proceeded to win the El Bosque Mexico Championship only three weeks later. With this victory, he entered the top 200 in the World Golf Rankings. This led to his PGA Tour debut at the 2014 Memorial Tournament. After winning his third Web.com event of the season at the Winco Foods Portland Open, Carlos earned fully exempt status on the PGA Tour as a three-time, single-season winner. He was also named Web.com Tour Player of the Year.

In his first full PGA Tour season, Carlos ended in 93rd place in the FedEx Cup and his T9 at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba was his season’s best performance. His best finish in a major came in the 2019 US Open where he finished tied for 52nd place.
