Dr Babar Bashir Chaudhri is a Consultant Cardiac, Thoracic and Transplant Surgeon at Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai. As an award-winning surgeon, Dr Chaudhri is an expert in beating heart coronary surgery, heart valve repair, complex aortic surgery, redo cardiac surgery, heart/ lung transplantation and mechanical circulatory assistance. He is also an expert in surgical procedures through minimised incisions and is currently working to establish a robotic cardiac and thoracic surgery service as well.
Dr Chaudhri also practices at India's top multi-speciality hospital, Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai. Before taking on this position, Dr Chaudhri worked as Consultant Cardiac Surgeon and the Vice President at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
Dr Chaudhri also lectured at the Middlesex Hospital, London and throughout his extensive career he has performed in excess of 4,500 adult cardiac surgical operations including 800 major thoracic operations, 50 heart and 48 lung transplants.
In 2016, Dr Chaudhri received the award for India's Best Cardiac Surgeon.
Dr Chaudhri obtained his surgical licence from the Royal College of Surgeons in London as well as the General Medical Council. He studied medicine at the University of Cambridge, his research doctoral thesis is from Imperial College, London and he is a fellow of the prestigious Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has been in clinical practice since 1992.
Recognised for his contributions to research into heart failure, Babar Chaudhri has published his work extensively in scientific journals, offering a new understanding of the pathology of heart failure and altered clinical practice.
