The foundation offers a range of educational programs, including college preparatory programs and after-school tutoring, while also partnering with the Compton Unified School District for the Compton Summer Tennis Camp and Reading Lab and The Sloane Stephens Foundation Summer Reading Readiness Program. The foundation and CUSD also collaborate on a Leadership Academy, a year-round program where students are given a dedicated mentor to help them learn important life tools, including professionalism, college readiness and career and workforce preparation.
Community building is also integral to its mission. Love, Love Compton, in partnership with the USTA, transforms elementary school playgrounds and parking lots into tennis courts. To date, more than 4000 students have participated in this program, which also has dedicated volunteers, including Compton School District teachers. A similar initiative is the STAR (Scholar Tennis at Recess) program, which brings recess to life with tennis activities and development of physical literacy.
Sloane’s foundation also works with many national groups to further philanthropic efforts. Net Gen Tennis, whose mission is to spread the love of tennis to new generations, offers coaches, organizers, and teachers access to the USTA in order to work with experts to develop coaching methods, teaching materials, and digital tools. The foundation has also partnered with the Special Olympics, Boys & Girls Club of Broward County, WTA and National Recreation Foundation (NRF).
